Valencia's Taqueria
About This Spot
Walking into Valencia's Taqueria feels a bit like stepping into a cherished neighborhood secret—a place where the rhythm is easy, and the buzz comes from contented conversation and the clink of glasses. The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, with a steady flow of locals who return again and again for meals that carry the kind of comfort only good, honest cooking can bring. It’s a spot where time slows just enough to savor familiar flavors and simple moments shared over food.
The pace here matches the steady hum of Citrus Heights itself: unhurried but lively, filled with the enticing aromas of fresh tortillas and slow-simmered meats. Valencia’s isn’t about flashy presentation—it’s about genuine connection through familiar tastes that resonate deeply, whether you’re popping in for a quick lunch or settling in for a relaxed dinner.
The menu feels like an intimate conversation with Mexican culinary tradition. You might find yourself drawn to a plate of birria tacos served alongside rich consomé for dipping, or perhaps tempted by crispy flautas and the delicate sweetness of pan dulce from the adjoining bakery. Whether it’s the generous nachos piled high with al pastor or the comforting embrace of chilaquiles verdes, every dish tells a story that feels both rooted and inviting.
Beyond the food itself, the attached market adds another layer to the experience—a colorful trove of Hispanic ingredients and treats that echoes the restaurant’s authentic vibe. It’s a space where the culture around the food you’ve just enjoyed extends, encouraging a deeper appetite for discovery.
Valencia's Taqueria quietly earns its place as a neighborhood cornerstone by offering a genuine taste of home and heritage. It’s the kind of spot where locals find comfort, and newcomers find themselves wanting to return, drawn not just by the flavors but by the sense of belonging that unfolds with every visit.

Valencia's feels like one of those secret spots that only the locals know about. This was my second or third visit, and the food is on point every single time. They have a little Bakery you can grab things to take home on your way out, as well. On this visit we had the nachos with al pastor pork omg This is arguably some of the best Mexican food in the burbs.

Good food and service. Nothing extraordinary, but good. I would recommend it if nearby. There is an attached food store that appears to have a good selection of Hispanic merchandise. Make sure you check it out after you've eaten in the restaurant.

Amazing food. Authentic. Very good menudo and pozole

Ordered super burrito with shredded chicken. They don't offer pollo asada for this dish. A little bland but easily fixed with salsa verde dribbled over it. The chips were a little hard, not fresh. There's room for improvement for Valencia's.

Absolutely incredible. It's always these hidden gems that serve the best. Entering the place for the first time, you have a good selection of options to choose from. The price may seem a bit crazy at first, but here's the good part. In about 10 minutes or less, they come out with a fresh, hot meal (in my case a super burrito, my family got chimichangas) the size of bricks. Every bite was just an explosion of flavor down to the vegetables, and I think I felt a third eye opening. The price is absolutely worth it once you see the sizes for yourself. If you live around or are just passing by, definitely consider choosing this!

The food was authentic, and the pan dulce was delicious. Also, it is convenient to have the market attached. My husband loves the birriria tacos, and i really enjoyed the chile relleno.
